The Chedi Review

The former grounds of the British Consulate now house Chiang Mai's finest waterfront hotel, a true oasis with rooms and suites furnished in an eclectic mix of traditional styles and sleek modern lines, free minibars, and private terraces overlooking either the river or the gardens. Just steps from the Mae Ping River and one of the city's busiest streets, the hotel have been restored to its original 1920s appearance in parts, so although you'll now find a smart bar and chic restaurant, the place is also fitted with gleaming teak and leather. Lotus ponds border the 33-meter pool, giving the impression of bathing in a Thai jungle clearing.
