Bangkok's latest high-flying hotel, the W has all sorts of snazzy art and design touches both inside and outside the rooms. From the 800 tuk-tuk lights illuminating the ground floor to the whale-shape swimming pool (complete with Siamese cat statues) on the 6th floor terrace, everything is new and novel. The rooms are spiffy, with electronic pads to control everything from the lights to the air-conditioning. Rather than standard or deluxe rooms, here they're called "wonderful"
or "spectacular." The Kitchen Table restaurant serves elegant international and Asian fare, and Woobar has inventive cocktails and a chill-out vibe. A sumptuous buffet breakfast is included in the rates.
