Chote Chitr Review
A favorite of legendary Bangkok food writer Bob Halliday, this simple, diminutive restaurant near Wat Suthat specializes in recipes handed down from the royal palace. Notable in a constellation of superstar dishes are banana-blossom salad (here it's made with shrimp, chicken, tamarind pulp, chili, and coconut cream); perfectly balanced red curry shrimp; and makheua yao (a smoky green eggplant salad with shrimp, shallots, palm sugar, fermented shrimp, and lime juice). The mee krob noodles are legendary. Despite declining a bit in authenticity and service due to its popularity, tourists still love this place.
