Dating back to 1969, this is one of Bangkok's older hotels, but it's well kept up and conveniently located by the business district on Silom Road. It has basic but comfortable rooms and friendly service. This hotel's name refers to the god Vishnu (Narai is the Thai name for Vishnu), and an elegant bas-relief of the Hindu deity can be seen on the wall in front of the main staircase. Unfortunately, the hotel is a bit of a hike from the nearest Skytrain station.

We stayed at the Narai just a couple of weeks ago (early October) and that was our first time in BKK. I can't say that we were thrilled over our room, but it was ok. The breakfast was great and it was nice to have a pool area where we could kill some time and have a snack.
