First of all, know that there are several tailors posing as Raja's or Gulati's in Bangkok. The one you want is Raja's Fashions on Soi Nana, immediately south of Nana Plaza. It looks like this: http://www.cityphotoguide.com/node/83
Second, the proprietors are Raja and Bobby Gulati, father and son. Bobby is unmistakable - tall, elegant, perfectly dressed, with a razor sharp memory. At Raja's I have been quite satisfied with the fit, cloth, tailoring and details of my purchases, which have ranged from casual shirts, dress shirts, silk sport coats, and suits ranging from Super 120s to Super 180s. One can request any number of details, such as surgeon's sleeves, kissing buttons, pockets sized to fit a Blackberry Curve 8900, S.T. Dupont lighter, cigar holder, and/or, I suppose, a Sig Sauer P229. Take your time upon returning for fittings. as you will want Raja, Bobby or one of the veteran Chinese Thai tailors to shape your coat to your body. Prices are extremely reasonable, and the savings from Stateside in acquiring 2 to 3 made-to-measure suits at Raja's will pay for your vacation in the Land of Smiles.

I have been using Raja's Fashions for some years now after a series of disasters with other so called tailors in Bangkok. Some of the work has been unforgivable and has ended up in the trash bin shortly after my return home. However, I have found Raja's work to be consistent and reasonably priced- certainly not cheap, but more than fair compared to what I would pay at home for comparable workmanship. Wor kSuits purchased 5 years ago are still holding their shape and have worn well. The tailored shirts have been of good quality Egyptian cotton and cost the same as ones bought off the rack at home. They have lasted well. Prices have risen over the past couple of years but I still go back every trip to update my clothes and have always walked away happy with my purchases.
