Located on the banks of the Chao Phraya River in an old part of the city, these three villas are in traditional Thai houses, originally built up-country and then transported to the grounds of the Chakrabongse House, which was built in 1908. They may be the best rooms in the city—the problem is there are only three, and the place is very popular, so you must book well in advance (at least a month). The Riverside Villa and Garden Suite each offer more space and better views—the villa has a view of Wat Arun from the bedroom—but the Thai House is also unique and beautifully furnished. There's a sala next to the river for guests to enjoy, where Thai meals are served upon request. A minimum two-night stay is preferred. Pros: unique hotel experience; beautiful surroundings. Cons: fills up quickly; feels secluded.
