Bangkok Sights

Lumphini Park

Lumphini Park Review

Two lakes enhance this popular park, one of the few and the biggest in the center of the city. You can watch children feed bread to the turtles, or see teenagers taking a rowboat to more secluded shores. During the dry season (November through February) keep an eye and an ear out for Music in the Park, which starts around 5 pm each Sunday on the Singha stage; there are different bands each week playing classical and Thai oldies. The adjacent night market is also a must-see. There are many embassies in the immediate vicinity, and the Bangkok Royal Sports Club is just west of the park. A little farther west, but still within walking distance, is Siam Square, home to Thailand's most prestigious university, Chulalongkorn. Siam Square is also one of Bangkok's biggest shopping areas.
