Fodor's Expert Review Genji
Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.
It's not uncommon for newcomers to find the atmosphere chilly at Bangkok's many fine Japanese restaurants, but Genji is the happy exception. The staff here is uniformly pleasant. There's an excellent sushi bar and several small private rooms where you can enjoy succulent grilled eel or a Kobe beef roll with asparagus and fried bean curd. The well-conceived set menus for lunch and dinner provide a nice change from typical Thai fare. Lunch seats fill up quickly, and dinner sometimes requires a wait.
