InterContinental Bangkok

973 Ploenchit Rd, Bangkok, 10330, Thailand

Paul Feinstein

A giant hotel in the middle of one of the busiest areas of Bangkok, the InterContinental is a 37-floor behemoth with seven dining and drinking options, a spa, rooftop pool, and over 300 well-appointed rooms. With a BTS Skytrain station outside the front door, guests have access to every part of the city, and with shopping, dining, and attractions in the area, it’s perfect for walking to anything you could want or need.

room

Comfy, carpeted rooms come with free water, coffee, and tea and no shortage of stunning city-wide views. Rooms also feature iPod docking stations, large flat-screen TVs, and daily fresh fruit.

YOU SHOULD KNOW Wi-Fi is free only if you sign up for the hotel’s rewards program. Fortunately, the sign up is also free. Unfortunately, you’ll get lots of unsolicited emails once you’re a member.

bathroom

Marble-laden bathrooms have separate showers and tubs and feature Agraria bath products.

lobby

To say the lobby is expansive would be an understatement. Underneath a giant crystal chandelier, guests can while away on cozy furnishings or nibble on bites at the various dining and drinking establishments strewn throughout.

pool

A small rooftop pool is surrounded by foliage and epic views of the city. The Oasis Pool Bar is swim-up ready for those who like to eat and drink while wet.

spa

Spa InterContinental provides guests with a laundry-list of wellness options. Signature treatments include stone massages, biosensitive facials, and Jasmine body scrubs. There are nine treatment rooms and luxurious locker rooms with sauna and steam options.

gym

Open 24-hours, Infinity Fitness is a large space with Life Fitness machines and free weights.

Daily classes are free for guests and include yoga, boxing, high-impact aerobics, and more.

dining

There’s absolutely no shortage of food options here. There’s Fireplace Grill and Bar for steak lovers. There's Theo Mio Italian Kitchen for pasta fans. There's The Deli for quick Euro-style bites. And, last but not least, there's the Summer Palace for Cantonese specialties.

At Espresso (the hotel’s coffee shop) there’s a great Sunday brunch with live jazz.

drinking

Besides the Oasis Pool Bar, drinkers can check out the Balcony Lounge and Humidor Cigar Bar for incredible whiskies and smoldering stogies.

LOCATION

Getting Around

Directly across from the Chit Lom BTS Skytrain Station, the hotel is ideally located for monorail access to the entire city. Within walking distance are multiple malls, restaurants, and attractions, as this is one of the busiest and most popular intersections of the city. This area is incredibly walkable--especially on hot days since many malls and hotels are connected via the Skytrain walkways. The Chit Lom BTS Station is across the street and gives guests unlimited access to every part of the city.

Restaurants

For high-end Japanese dining, head down the street to the St. Regis Hotel (7-minute walk) where Zuma serves top-rate sushi and other Japanese delicacies. If pasta is more your thing, try Gianni Ristorante (5-minute walk) for lunch or dinner.

Bars

Down the street is the Muse Hotel (5-minute walk), which has a cool rooftop bar and hidden speakeasy for small bites and large cocktails. If you want a great beer selection, check out The Beer Bridge (5-minute walk).

WHY WE LIKE IT

Spacious, grand, and filled with every amenity you can ask for, the InterContinental is great for families, business travelers, and for those who just want to be in the middle of the action. Fans of the hotel brand will feel right at home with their club amenities, and tourists will love the easy access to everything in the city. For a corporate hotel, the InterContinental still provides personal touches with a great spa, gym, pool, and dining and drinking options.
