Fodor's Review

Thailand's only intact royal kraal was built to hold and train elephants for martial service; it was last used during King Chulalongkorn's reign in 1903. The restored teak stockade is a gateway to the Royal Elephant Kraal Village, which cares for about 100 elephants. Though it looks like a working village, it's primarily a business—rehabilitating and parenting elephants for work on tours around Ayutthaya and also for TV and film productions (most recently Oliver Stone's Alexander). It's free if you just want to take a look, or 200 baht if you want to take a ride on an elephant.
