Getting Here & Around

By Bus

Air-conditioned buses leave from Bangkok's Southern Bus Terminal for Kanchanaburi (2 hours, B79) every 20 minutes from 5 am to 10:30 pm. Buses also leave eight times a day from Mo Chit Northern Bus Terminal (3 hours, B108).

By Car

Allow two hours to Kanchanaburi along Route 4. The first half is on a busy truck route that continues to southern Thailand, but the second half is more pleasant, through agricultural land. The road to Kanchanaburi passes through Nakhon Pathom.

By Taxi & Songthaew

In town, options for getting around include pedicabs and motorcycles with sidecars. Songthaews are better for longer forays out of town and can be flagged down. A few tuk-tuks and taxis are in town, but they are harder to find.

By Train

Trains to Kanchanaburi leave from Bangkok Noi Railway Station, on the Thonburi side of the Chao Phraya River. There are two daily trains (3 hours, B100), plus a tourist train (B100) that stops at the province's main sights on weekends and holidays, leaving Hua Lamphong Station at 6:30 am, returning at 7:30 pm, and stopping at Nakhon Pathom and Kanchanaburi.
