Getting Around

By Bus: Most buses depart from Bangkok's Southern Bus Terminal; tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis, but services are so frequent that it's seldom a problem finding an empty seat.

By Car: Distances from Bangkok are short enough to drive, though it's more relaxing to hire a car and driver.

By Taxi & Songthaew: Bangkok's air-conditioned taxis are an often-neglected way of accessing sights outside the city. It can be worth it to use them to explore Nakhon Pathom, Samut Songkram, and Muang Boran. Estimate around B500 per hour, depending on your bargaining skills.

Outside Bangkok, songthaews (pickups with wooden benches in the truck bed) are often the closest thing to taxis.
