The region is generally very safe, and the towns mentioned have hospitals. Take normal precautions and keep valuables on your person at all times when traveling by bus or train. Deals—particularly involving gems—that sound too good to be true are always a rip-off. On a more amusing note, the monkeys of Phetchaburi are cute but cunning, and may relieve you of your possessions, especially food.
