Seoul Hotels

The Shilla Seoul

  • 2-102 Jangchung-dong 2-ga

  • Rooms have a somewhat more Korean feel than other luxury hotels
  • Excellent spa

Cons

  • Not as centrally located as the downtown hotels

Fodor's Review

Established in 1979, The Shilla Seoul has built its reputation from a time when there were few high-end hotels in the city. Now it contains a luxury spa by French cosmetic brand Guertain as well as all the trappings of a true four star hotel. Although some rooms have scenic views of Mt. Namsan, the location is less than ideal for sightseeing, although most tourist areas are just a short cab ride away. The hotel sets itself apart from other luxury brands by incorporating

Korean design into the lobby and rooms, with each room being slightly different from the next.

Sublime (and so warm) Seoul Business Travel Stay

Rather recently (late February, with check-out, weekend of 1/2 March, '14), had the honour of a most satisfying Seoul business travel stay at The Shilla. Having previously stayed at the Park Hyatt Seoul for work on several occasions, this initial business stay at The Shilla easily met - and exceeded - my expectations. [Incheon arrival for this particular multi-night Seoul working trip was the familiar and always cherished Singapore Airlines flight

SQ16 J; another sweet SIA flight with some fine friends and crew. Post Seoul meetings, ICN departure would be via another SQ16 J: this sector to SFO for more meetings and checking on the SF Bay Area secondary residence. Another serene SIA J trans-pacific sector I presently fly ~ 7 times a year for work.] My corporate booking package at The Shilla included an upgrade to a "Corner Suite", which was more than adequate for my working needs. Of particular appreciation was her access to The Shilla's most agreeable executive business lounge and centre. Such warm and helpful staff; one woman in particular, so helpful with various translation and documentation requests. Well done, warm, superb Shilla staff. Will also add highest praise to The Shilla's exercise, swim, spa and massage options. (Remain addicted to daily exercise and massages, particularly during ongoing trans-pac business trips, such as this recent stay.) Most fortunate to experience some of The Shilla's dining options for meetings, especially her Palsun venue. Rather reluctant departure from this special business travel place; tempered with the knowledge that will most likely be returning for additional meetings in, well, ~ 7 weeks. Savour your Seoul times at one of my new, favourite, Asia business travel properties.
