Fodor's Review

The exquisite temple food at Balwoo Gonyang could convert the most diehard carnivore to vegetarianism—for the course of a meal at least. Cooking-monk Master Dae An's creative take on temple cuisine is as enlightening as it is creative. Each course introduces diners to different mountain herbs and Buddhist cooking techniques, reflecting Dae An's belief that food should be delicious, healthy, and fun. Some highlights of the ever-changing menu include ginseng with citron sauce, lotus-leaf rice, and a truffle-like mushroom soup. Not just for vegetarians, Balwoo Gongyang is for anyone wishing to expand their palate.

Seoul Business Dining Delight

Fairly recently (mid-May, '14), experienced another most enjoyable business dinner at this fine vegetarian-centric locale. Sublime service, from welcome to good-byes - and a gracious Seoul-based business colleague is instrumental in that regard. (It's one of his favourite Seoul restaurants and has developed various staff/hostess friendships over the years.) Cuisine, wonderful as ever, thanks to the ongoing suggestions of the Seoul-based colleague.

[Will add this particular Seoul business trip was 'Groundhog Day' in the best possible way. (I presently travel to Seoul for meetings ~ six times a year.) Same fine arrival from SFO via SQ15 and another efficient corporate stay at The Shilla - and more Seoul lodging developments to report in future.] Presently scheduled to return to Seoul for meetings, July, '14. Perhaps a return to this special restaurant. Savour your Seoul dining times.
