Fodor's Review

Established in 1979, The Shilla Seoul has built its reputation from a time when there were few high-end hotels in the city. Now it contains a luxury spa by French cosmetic brand Guertain as well as all the trappings of a true four star hotel. Although some rooms have scenic views of Mt. Namsan, the location is less than ideal for sightseeing, although most tourist areas are just a short cab ride away. The hotel sets itself apart from other luxury brands by incorporating Korean design into the lobby and rooms, with each room being slightly different from the next.

Ongoing Seoul Business Travel Serenity

Recently (late September, '15) had the ongoing privilege of staying at The Shilla for meetings before checking-out for a working (and opening celebrations) stay at her newest Seoul neighbour and competitor, the Four Seasons. (And more later on the FS, Seoul; lovely property, with great friends, management and staff at that much appreciated addition to the Seoul lodging scene.) By now, The Shilla friends and management know my preferred lodging, a

particular "Executive Grand Deluxe" dwelling. Ideal for my Seoul business travel purposes. Will confess (for various professionally reasons) the Four Seasons will most likely be my primary Seoul working property for the next few months. That said, will always have the fondest memories of The Shilla and fine, ongoing friendships. Savour your Shilla, Seoul stays.
