In a city where even luxury hotel service is often a bit rough around the edges, the Ritz Carlton stands out by adhering to the class and customer service that travelers have come to expect. Though the hotel is not as new as some of the more recent high-end arrivals, the service and atmosphere are unparalleled. Rare among Seoul's hotels, suites have spacious open balconies that look out over the city, perfect for a spring or summer evening. While the Ritz's location south of the river adds about a 15–20 minute taxi ride to most tourist areas, it is in the center of Seoul's vibrant Gangnam shopping and nightlife area. In 2011, the Ritz added the renowned, anti-aging French THEMAE Spa.
