Fodor's Review:

Among Singapore's best-kept secrets—there's no way to stumble on it by chance—is this south Indian restaurant in a private civil-service clubhouse. The airy colonial edifice has wooden-louver windows and overhead fans, but no air-conditioning. The simple banana-leaf eats, delivered by a parade of shuffling waiters, come with spoonfuls of zesty curries, fragrant rices, breads, and other assorted condiments. Dinner is Samy's strongest meal; arrive before 7 PM, when it starts getting crowded, for the best selection. You'll need to get a S$2 temporary membership to the Singapore Civil Service Club to eat here.

We found the place from Fodors on the internet and what a great choice. For those that love unpretentious Indian food this is your place. No menu. Walk up to the serving table and select whatever strikes your fancy. We ordered crab, prawns, chicken and mutton along with garlic naan and rice and drinks. The bill was 54 SD. Wow! What great value for money. Please plan to eat with your hands as it is conducive to do so. Make certain to take several trips to the washroom to keep you from licking your fingers (did not stop me). All in all a great tourist find as we were surrounded by locals.
