My Humble House
My Humble House Review
Eat at this colorful restaurant, which is the result of a collaboration between Beijing artist/musician Zhang Jin Jie and local restaurateurs, to get your creative (and digestive) juices flowing. Dispersed about the shimmering split-level interiors are whimsical curled and high-back furniture, vividly hued throws and curtains, modern artwork, and quirky flatware. Equally entertaining is the menu with its florid descriptions; "snow drops in the forest" is the colorful name for honey beans with preserved vegetables and dried scallops, of course. Alternatively, there's "smooth as velvet" (braised superior shark's fin), which is a pricier signature dish, and "the balmy breeze beckons" (baked five-spiced pork loin).
