Less than a kilometer down the road from the zoo (TIBS Bus 171 links the two) is a commercial orchid farm. The hillside is covered with the exotic blooms, cultivated for domestic sale and export. There are many varieties to admire, some quite spectacular, you can also buy their orchid gift-boxes as a little memento to take home. Guided tours are also available, however, since it is a good 30-minute taxi ride from downtown, unless you're an orchid enthusiast, a visit here is worth it only when combined with a visit to the zoo. The is closer to downtown and it also has orchids.
