Malabar Muslim Jama-Ath Mosque
Malabar Muslim Jama-Ath Mosque Review
The land on which this mosque sits was originally granted to the Jawi Peranakan (the offspring of Indian Muslims and Malaysians) community in 1848, by Sultan Ally Iskander Shah, as a burial ground. The mosque they erected here was abandoned and later taken over by the Malabar Muslims (those with ancestors from India or Ceylon, now Sri Lanka), who rebuilt it in 1962. Do note that photographs shouldn't be taken here after 1 PM.
