Fodor's Review:
The 220 shophouses here have been restored to their 19th-century appearance -- or rather a sanitized, dollhouse version of it. They contain teahouses, calligraphers, mah-jongg makers, shops, bars, and restaurants. Lively when it first opened, the area has since been somewhat overshadowed by nightlife establishments at Boat Quay and Clarke Quay on the Singapore River.
