The dark, cozy aura at Pete's Place plays second fiddle to its hearty Italian food. Famed for its antipasto, pizza, and pasta, this family-friendly restaurant, located in the basement of Grand Hyatt Singapore, also has an enormous soup-and-salad buffet complete with warm breads and homemade butter.

I first went to Pete's place (in the basement of the Hyatt) in the early 1990's. It hasn't changed. The Lasagna, Ciopinno and Pizza are as predictable but bland as ever. Each time I have eaten at Pete's it is because a colleague was "too tired" to do anything else! So, if you want safe, average, dumbed down Italian fare and are staying at the Hyatt, this is the place to go. The bigger question is "why eat Italian in Singapore if you are visiting
a city that has such a rich and exciting culinary tradition????"
