This popular restaurant also runs a well-known cooking school. Even if you don't take a class (250,000 kip per day, sign up one day in advance), come for the delicious citronella Mekong catfish, sautéed chicken in banana leaf, or eggplant with chili sauce.

Two years ago we had a very good experience at the Tum Tum Cheng cooking school. Went back end of 2009 with great expectation. They took us to the market to shop for food and then informed us they had everything at the school so nothing was bought. There were not enough burners for more then 4 participants and one of the dishes we prepared was cooked by them in a different kitchen. Both my wife and i were very disappointed. The class was not satisfactory.
On our first visit we highly recommended this school to our friends, but cannot recommend it now.Our suggestion is to search out other schools in Luang Prabong that will provide excellent classes. We were asked to choose 4 dishes to prepare. The cost was $40. We learned that other cooking classes cook 6 dishes and charge $25.
