Timing

One day is enough to see the jar sites and visit some local villages. However, Phonsavan is a friendly place that doesn't see many tourists other than visitors to the jars, and it may be worthwhile to spend an extra day exploring the pretty surrounding countryside, hot springs, and local villages.
