Meimei-an Teahouse

Meimei-an Teahouse Review

Built in 1779, this is one of Japan's best-preserved teahouses. For ¥400 you can contemplate the mysteries of Matsue Castle, and for ¥400 more, you get tea and locally made sweets. To get here, leave Shiroyama Koen, the castle park, at its East Exit and follow the moat going north; at the top of the park a road leads to the right, northwest of the castle. The teahouse is a short climb up this road. Before you enter, turn around for one of the best views of Matsue's hilltop castle.
