Getting Here and Around

Kurashiki is 3 hours 28 minutes west of Tokyo or 1 hour west of Shin-Osaka by the Shinkansen and San-yo line. In town, you can stroll leisurely through the streets taking in the scenery.

Kurashiki Tourist Information Office, on the right outside the second-floor south exit from the JR station, has knowledgeable locals who provide useful maps and information. Another office is in the Bikan district, at the first bend of the canal, on the right a block past the Ohara Museum of Art, just across the bridge from the Ryokan Tsurugata. They sell tickets for the 20-minute canal-boat tours (summer only) for ¥300, and provide information on the museums located around the Bikan area.
