With its 1,632-seat main auditorium, this venue nourishes Japan's fledgling efforts to make a name for itself in the world of opera. The Opera City Concert Hall has a massive pipe organ and the free concert is offered on Fridays from 11:45 to 12:30. It hosts visiting orchestras and performers. Ballet and large-scale operatic productions such as Carmen draw crowds at the New National Theater's Opera House, while the Pit and Playhouse theaters showcase dance, musicals and more-intimate dramatic works. The complex also includes an art gallery.
