Yokohama History Archives (Yokohama Kaiko Shiryokan)

Yokohama History Archives (Yokohama Kaiko Shiryokan) Review

Within the archives, housed in what was once the British Consulate, are some 140,000 items recording the history of Yokohama since the opening of the port to international trade in the mid-19th century. Across the street is a monument to the U.S.-Japanese Friendship Treaty. To get here from the Silk Center Building, at the end of the Yamashita Park promenade, walk west to the corner of Nihon-odori; the archives are on the left.
