Fuji Museum (Fuji Hakubutsukan)

Fuji Museum (Fuji Hakubutsukan) Review

One of the little oddities at Lake Kawaguchi is this museum, located on the lake's north shore, next to the Fuji Lake Hotel. The first floor holds conventional exhibits of local geology and history, but upstairs is an astonishing collection of—for want of a euphemism—phalluses (you must be 18 or older to view the exhibit). Mainly made from wood and stone and carved in every shape and size, these figures played a role in certain local fertility festivals.
