Like the Conrad up the road in Shiodome, The Strings is all about blending modernity with traditional Japanese aesthetics. From Shinagawa Station, an elevator leads up to the hotel atrium, where a glass bridge spans a pond and cut stone mixes with dark wood. Guest rooms include LCD TVs and awesome views of the Tokyo skyline, (make sure you check it out at night), and the large bathrooms have separate showers and tubs. Prices in the hotel restaurants tend to be high, so a trip to a nearby Western steakhouse or coffee shop might make your wallet smile.
