Waenti-Kikko

Fodor's Review:

Originally a teahouse, Waenti-Kikko, which used to be Kuremuttsu, is now a cosy country style Japanese restaurant and bar. The new owner, Fukui Kodai, is a traditional Japanese Tsugaru Shamisen (string instrument) musician, who performs at scheduled times throughout the day. Narrow your field of vision, shut out the world outside, and you could be back in the waning days of Meiji-period Japan. This pub specializes in premium sake, with set courses of food and drink for lunch (¥1,890 to ¥3,500) and dinner (¥6,300 to ¥12,600). There is a 10% service charge for dinner.

  • Open: Daily 11:30-2 and 5-10
