Conrad Tokyo Review

The Conrad, part of the Hilton family, welcomes you to the Space Age with a Japanese twist. Elevators shoot upward 28 floors in the slick, green-hue Tokyo Shiodome Building to a lobby of dark oak paneling and bronze lattices. Straight-edge counters in shades of blue and Japanese-lantern illumination come together in the bar areas. Dining options include the French-influenced Gordon Ramsay at the Conrad Tokyo and the adjoining brasserie, Cerise by Gordon Ramsay. The high-ceiling guest rooms allow for nice views of the bay or the city from a pair of low-back sofas. Motorized blinds and 37-inch plasma TVs with DVD players housed in lacquer boxes are thoughtful touches. Highlights in the bathrooms include dual sinks, rain-shower showerheads, and separate tubs (complete with rubber ducks). Be sure to come with plenty of Hilton points (or your best plastic)—room prices are as sky-high as the lobby entrance.
