Fodor's Review:

Hasumi Chaya, a charming Japanese teahouse located on the bank of the pond, is only opened during the summer when the lotus flowers cover Shinobazu Pond. It is an open, airy café that offers perfect views of the lotus flowers in bloom and serves lunch and dinner sets: for lunch, you can get a set of tea and snacks for ¥900; for dinner you can get a set of cold beer and snacks for ¥1,000. English is not spoken, but sets are displayed in plastic models at the entrance to make ordering easier.

  • Open: Jun. 17-Aug. 31, Daily 12-4, 5-9.
  • Subway: Toei Oedo line, Ueno-Okachimachi Station (Exit 2), JR Yamanote Line, Ueno Station (Exit 6).
