This traditional-style pub is noteworthy for stocking only the finest and rarest, the Latours and Mouton-Rothschilds, of sake: these are the rice wines that take gold medals in the annual sake competition year after year. It also serves some of the best izakaya food in town—the Japanese wouldn't dream of drinking well without eating well. Sasashu purports to be the only restaurant in Tokyo that serves wild duck; the chefs brush the duck with sake and soy sauce and broil it over a hibachi. It's in a rambling, two-story, traditional-style building, with thick beams and tatami floors.
