Ryokan Katsutaro

Fodor's Review:

This small, simple, economical hotel is a five-minute walk from the entrance to Ueno Koen (Ueno Park) and a 10-minute walk from the Tokyo National Museum. The rather spacious rooms, of which the quietest are in the back, away from the main street, have traditional tatami flooring and sliding doors. A simple breakfast of toast, eggs, and coffee is served for only ¥500. To get here, leave the Nezu subway station by Exit 2, cross the road, take the street running northeast, and turn right at the "T" intersection; Ryokan Katsutaro is 25 yards along Dobutsuen-uramon-dori, on the left-hand side.

  • Hotel Details: 7 Japanese-style rooms, 4 with bath
  • In-room: no TV (some), Internet.
  • In-hotel: laundry facilities, Japanese baths.
  • Credit Cards: AE, MC, V
  • Subway: Chiyoda subway line, Nezu Station (Exit 2)
