Hotel Okura Tokyo Review

Conservative dark wood in the public areas and the tiered exterior architecture at the entry help the Okura retain the understated sophistication of its early days in the 1960s. Amenities in the tasteful, spacious rooms include remote-control draperies and terry robes. The odd-number rooms, 871-889 inclusive, overlook a small Japanese landscaped garden. The on-site museum houses fine antique porcelain, mother-of-pearl, and ceramics. The hotel remains a Tokyo favorite by its Japanese clientele but given its high rates, foreign guests might want to consider the lower-priced ANA InterContinental (for its views) or the pampering of the Grand Hyatt as alternatives.
