Bape Exclusive Aoyama Review

Since the late 1990s, no brand has been more coveted by Harajuku scenesters than the A Bathing Ape label (shortened to Bape) from DJ-fashion designer Nigo. At the height of the craze, hopefuls would line up outside Nigo's well-hidden boutiques for the chance to plop down ¥7,000 for a T-shirt festooned with a simian visage or a Planet of the Apes quote. Bape has since gone aboveground, with Nigo expanding his business empire to Singapore, Hong Kong, New York, Paris, Los Angeles, and London. Here in Tokyo, you can see what all the fuss is about at a spacious boutique that houses the Bape Gallery on the second floor.
