Asakusa

Fodor's Review:

While sightseeing in this area, take time to stroll through its arcades. Many of the goods sold here are the kinds of souvenirs you can find in any tourist trap, but look a little harder and you can find small backstreet shops that have been making beautiful wooden combs, delicate fans, and other items of fine traditional craftsmanship for generations. Also here are the cookware shops of Kappabashi, where you can load up on everything from sushi knives to plastic lobsters.

  • Subway: Asakusa subway line, Asakusa Station (Kaminari-mon Exit); Ginza subway line, Asakusa Station (Exit 1) and Tawara-machi Station (Exit 3)
