Shinjuku Park Tower Building

Shinjuku Park Tower Building Review

Kenzo Tange's Shinjuku Park Tower has in some ways the most arrogant, hard-edged design of any of the skyscrapers in Nishi-Shinjuku, but it does provide any number of opportunities to rest and refuel. Some days there are free chamber-music concerts in the atrium. There are many restaurants to choose from in the building, with a variety of international and Japanese restaurants. Take a ride up to the skylighted bamboo garden of the Peak Lounge on the 41st floor of the Park Hyatt Hotel (03/5322-1234), which was the set location of the Oscar-winning film Lost in Translation. Order a Suntory whiskey at the New York Bar 11 floors above, and you might feel a little like Bill Murray's character in the movie. Also come for brunch at Giranole, a French brasserie with a fantastic view of the city.
