Fodor's Review:

The Roppongi branch of this restaurant evokes the feeling of an Edo-period tavern with a good collection of antiques: aka-dansu (red-lacquered chests), Nambu ironware kettles, and low hori-gotatsu tables, with recesses beneath which you can stretch out your legs. All the tables are for six people or more; you're bound to be sharing yours. The later you dine (the place stays open until 4 AM), the more boisterous and friendly your tablemates will be. Jidaiya serves a bit of everything in its prix-fixe courses: shabu-shabu, tempura, sushi, and steamed rice with seafood. The food is nothing fancy, but it's delicious and filling.
