Fodor's Review:

In Japanese, taka means "high"—a fitting word for this store, which is beloved for its superior quality and prestige. Gift-givers all over Japan seek out this department store; a present that comes in a Takashimaya bag makes a statement regardless of what's inside. The second floor, with shops by Christian Dior, Prada, Chanel, Cartier, and many others, is one of the toniest retail spaces in a shopping district celebrated for its exclusivity. The seventh floor has a complete selection of traditional crafts, antiques, and curios. The lower-level food court carries every gastronomic delight imaginable, from Japanese crackers and green tea to Miyazaki beef and plump melons.

  • Open: Daily 10-8
  • Subway: Ginza subway line, Nihombashi Station (Exits B1 and B2)
  • Other location: Takashimaya Times Sq., 5-24-2 Sendagaya, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, 03/5361-1111, Metro: JR Yamanote Line, Shinjuku Station (Minami-guchi/South Exit)
