Between Lake Tazawa and Lake Towada, the Hachimantai Plateau is a hotbed of geological activity between volcano tops. Geysers and bubbling mud pots remind you of all that goes on beneath us. There are also onsen, and any hiking you do will be rewarded by relaxing soaks in the hot springs.
