Akita Museum of Art (Akita Kenritsu Bijutsukan)

Akita Museum of Art (Akita Kenritsu Bijutsukan) Review

To make Akita's art more central and accessible, the city opened this modern museum in 2012. However, after some tussles with local galleries (who prefer art aficionados visit them instead), the museum (which has no permanent collection) is being loaned works from places such as the Hirano Masakichi Art Foundation. From the northwest corner of JR Akita Station, head west on Akita Chuo Dori. After four blocks the museum will be on your left, just before the Castle Hotel.
