Fodor's Review

Interested in Zen meditation? This temple, with a quintessentially Japanese garden, holds zazen-kai (seated meditation class) on Saturday evenings. In June, the garden is a blaze of color; azaleas, irises, water lilies, gnarled pines, and bamboos harmonize with each other. It's best to visit in the evening when tranquillity returns after flocks of visitors leave. From JR Sendai Station, take the JR train to Kita-Sendai Station and walk 10 minutes.
