Fodor's Review

Koreans are the largest ethnic minority in Japan, and more of them live in Osaka than anywhere else. Known as zainichi, they have only recently begun to proclaim their traditional heritage and use their Korean names after decades—in some cases centuries—of "assimilation." Thanks to TV stars like Bae Yong-joon and music groups like Girls Generation, Korean pop culture has become mainstream in Japan. For a fun evening feasting on excellent, affordable yaki-niku (Korean-style barbecue) take the West Exit of JR Tsuruhashi Station and step into any one of the restaurants lining the narrow street. Many also specialize in Kobe beef, an added treat.
