Fodor's Review

One of Nara's most distinctive meals is cha-gayu (green-tea-flavored rice porridge). During the day To-no-chaya serves this special dish with sashimi and vegetables, plus a few sweetened rice cakes for dessert. If you're coming for dinner, call ahead to enjoy cha-gayu. For lunch, opt for bento-box meals. The restaurant's name means "Tearoom of the Pagoda," for its views of the Kofuku Temple.
