Kobe Travel Guide

Subway Travel

Kobe's main subway line runs from Tanigami in the far north of the city, and passes through Shin-Kobe and San-no-miya stations before continuing west to the outskirts of town. Another line runs along the coast from San-no-miya and links up with the main line at Shin-Nagata Station. Fares start at ¥180 and are determined by destination. The San-no-miya–Shin-Kobe trip costs ¥200.

The Portliner was the first digitally driven monorail in the world, and departs from San-no-miya Station every six minutes from 6:05 am until 11:40 pm on its loop to and around Port Island. The ride affords a close-up view of Kobe Harbor.
