Ogi-machi
Getting Here and Around
It's more convenient to drive to Ogi-machi, but it's possible to get there by public transportation. The bus to Ogi-machi departs from Nagoya at 9 am daily, taking three hours and costing ¥3,500. You'll also find daily bus service from Ogi-machi to Kanazawa, departing at 8:40 am and 2:40 pm. The trip also takes three hours, and costs ¥3,300, or ¥5,900 round-trip. Bus services stop from about the end of October until March or April, and it is best to reserve a seat through tourist offices in advance. From Takayama, buses go year-round four to six times daily for ¥2,400, ¥4,300 round-trip.
Many old houses function as minshuku. To stay in one, make reservations through the Ogi-machi Tourist Office, open daily 9-5. It's next to the Gassho-shuraku bus stop in the center of town.
