Getting Here and Around

The central valley town of Nagiso is one hour south of Matsumoto on the JR Chuo Line. Tsumago is a 10-minute bus ride (¥300) from JR Nagiso Station. Magome is closer to JR Nakatsugawa Station, which is 12 minutes south on the same line. Both towns are served by buses from the Nagiso and Nakatsugawa stations, so you can take a bus to one village and return from the other. Local buses between Magome and Tsumago are infrequent.

The staff at Magome Tourist Information Office —in the village center along the old post road—can help you reserve a hotel room. The Tsumago Tourist Information Office, in the center of town, has the same services as the Magome tourist office.
